ever tried playing anything by the police?

On guitar I mean. Bleedin hell Summers Riffs need a long stretch, my hands are aching like f@@@@.

I never realised how good a guitarist he is, I bought the albums, loved the singles, but summers is definitely not like other guitarists, all those jazzy 9ths.

I was attempting message in a bottle and realised I had played a very similar riff...........By The Music..........just slowed down, obvious where their guitarists influences lie.

Had a listen to some of his solo stuff, interesting, cos some of that also sounds suspiciously like The Music as well, just a different time and phrase.

He did some collaboration work with Robert Fripp (another guitar hero of mine). Its all interesting stuff, not poppy or commercial, but theres lots of bits which could be.

Anyone else followed the carrers of these two guys?

Fortunately I have huge hands (almost an 11-inch hand span ) so I'm yet to find a guitar riff I've had trouble with.

The summers stuff is amongst the more difficult however

I feel really inadaquate now, might have to take up some of those 'genuine' offers that spam my email account on a regular basis

How many Frets worth is 11" anyway ?

I can manage 6 frets, but not fast, couldnt I just use Dr Vai's vacuum span developer or just some Vai-agra to give me the extra length. Im thinking surgery is just too rad.

"Vai-agra", haha.

11" is a 9 fret stretch (a big stretch) but I can cover nine between thumb & diddy finger, only 8 between index/diddy finger however.

Do guitar players still use their thumbs these days??? I noticed most don't as their hands don't fit around the fret-board properly
