So what is your favourite?
I mostly listen to dance music but my favourite has to be
The planets (jupiter) by Gustav Holst
Also worth a mention are
Adiemus by Adiemus
The top of the morning by Mike Oldfield (also far above the clouds heard this on dvd and is spectacular)
Apologise by timbaland feat one republic
EDIT - Also loving Metallica S&M cd
I am actually suprised since getting better speakers I feel myself appreciating a lot more different music (a lot of it for the sublte things you notice on clear speakers) and am listening to a more varied selection. For those who are into dance music deadmau5's stuff is very good (due to the fact he uses chords instead of notes for bass (apparently) gives a nice rich sound)

I would choose a few to show off different characteristics:
Theme to The Deer Hunter by John Williams, amazing acoustic guitar
Tocata's Fugue in G on a good cathedral organ, you can feel the 64 foot pipes!
Turing Japanese by The Vapours
A very good point about appreciating different kind of music BTW.

Grand Master Flash & The Furious Five et al. - The Message. 30 years on and still one of the best produced tracks I have.
Pretty much the whole of Rodrigo Y Gabriella's self titled (not debut) album.
It really depends on what musical taste you have too, of course.

Saw him open for Fatboy Slim at Wireless last year & became an instant fan.

As mentioned above no one track s/b a definitive source. I have a few fav' with specifics I look for, couple of tracks from The Hunter Jennifer Warnes well done bass, some tracks are complex with diff instruments imaging well that show depth and good resolution on fine setups. As mentioned the bass on some tracks are strong but should not overpower other instruments, how on her voice sounds on most tracks. From a Pop perspective its one of the best produced/engineered IMHO Rossini Sonate per Archi | Sonatas for Strings Trk 8 cd1 Cellos/Violas/violins are here and again a good setup should easily define then all and where they are in the soundstage.
