Electric Six

I'm off to see Electric Six tonight - has anyone else seen them on this tour? I saw brief highlights of the band at Glastonbury and they looked good - but tonight they'll be playing to more like 300 people in a sweaty basement in Hastings, so it'll certainly be more cosy. I'll let you know how the gig goes...

Gay bar!

I saw them in town a few weeks ago. They were ace Their video for Gay Bar cracks me up.
I reckon they'll probably last about as long as The Bloodhound Gang though

I didn't see them at Reading, but as soon as they played Gay Bar (their last song but two) most of the audience left the tent Ha Ha.

The gig was really good. On the rare occasions that a name band make a stop in Hastings, I always fear that they will see the toilet they are to play in and put in a half hearted performance. No such problems with Electric Six who tore the place up. Their quirky mix of disco and rock comes over a lot harder live than on record and the band seemed to enjoy having the crowd in their face. I was impressed.

The mosh pit doubled in size and liveliness when they played Gay Bar, but my favourites were Rock Show, Naked Pictures Of Your Mother and the closing song - Radio GaGa!

Overall 8/10 and well worth the price at the ticket. If they come to your town you should definitely check them out.

In fact that has reminded me that the other ace thing about the gig was watching all the kids half my age nodding along to "Whole Lotta Rosie" before the band came on. I was torn between thinking "fantastic, the future of rock is secure" and "you weren't born when this was recorded - go home, you've got school in the morning"

I'm turning into a curmudgeon. Senility can't be far behind...
