Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood

I've got to recommend this album to you all. I got it on Friday and it's been belting out of whatever music player has been nearest to me ever since. My missus is sick of it, but then I'm not very keen on her Madonna CD's!

Hard to describe the type of stuff, but you'll have heard 'red morning light' and 'mollys chambers' and loved them or loathed them.

I think it's similar to The Strokes in an odd way, but the lead singers voice sounds more bluesy.

Sorry, am not very good at describing styles, but i know what i like and i definitely like this. hope you do too.

Saw something very late on Saturday night/Sunday Morning on 4Music about them and rushed to the PC to place an order straight away. They are often described as a "Southern Strokes" but you're right they do sound more bluesy than that.
Ordered from Play but they seem to be out of stock even though its just come out.

Ditto - ordered it from play last week and it's 'awaiting stock'. They're on quite heavy rotation on MTV2 - can't remember the name of the song, but it's a very cool, simple Velvet Underground type riff. They are about 21 and have comedy 'taches and I read somewhere that they're mostly brothers, who grew up touring the Deep South with their evangelist father. So not your typical M4 corridor university band.

Have in on my list of buys, gritty southern blues rock. Sound like a cross between the White Stripes and The Strokes.

That's disgraceful, you expect a seller to have items in stock on the first day of release. Still, I suppose I'm lucky to have a good old fashioned record shop nearby that sells items as soon as they get delivery (so on Friday you get next Monday's releases).

Anyway, you're right they're now in Tennessee but grew up on the road with their father who's a Pentecostal evangelist so travelled the southern U.S. a lot. They're 3 brothers and their cousin and there are some comedy hair/moustache combos going on.

I really can't express how good this album is, so won't try. I'm sure you'll love it once you hear it.....and there's a hidden track at the end of the CD so leave track 11 running once it's finished.

One thing you may get peeved about is the copy protection, as it means (I think) you can only play the CD on your PC with the default media player. I think there must be a player on the CD that is invoked when you put it in the CD rom. I also have a horrible feeling that it won't play on Macs, as 'Mac' doesn't have a tick on the back of the CD cover. Not knowing much about copy protection I don't know why Macs aren't supported, but I'm sure it can be fiddled about with if you want to do that sort of thing.

The quotes weren't meant to be sarcastic. Would love to be able to patronise a local music shop, but Switzerland is not flush with well-priced specialist music stores (there's an oxymoron in there somewhere). GBP8.99 delivered is hard to beat.
