Band/Gig T-Shirts

I read 'Classic Rock' magazine and last month they had a great column regarding people who wear Band/Gig t-shirtsm not because they've been to the gig or like the band but because its fashionable, i.e a footballers wife wearing a saxon t-shirt listening to girls allowed on her ipod.

Whilst reading this, I did chuckle to myself.. I wonder how many people who wear a motorhead t-shirt know how lemmy is ? What's you thoughts ?

Know excatly what you mean.
Earlier this year while on holiday I was wearing my Ramones T-Shirt and there in the bar was somebody else wearing a Ramones T-Shirt.
Struck up a conversation over shared tastes in music.
This guy had no clue who the Ramones were.
Arse.

Re: Band/Gig T-Shirts

Sadly there are thousands of people who do this and annoys the living hell out of me, i particulary hate those classic rock t shirts they started selling a while ago with glitter on them!
I even saw one guy wearing a maiden one?!!!?
It really does p*ss me off as you know none of these people listen to the bands they wear, i never buy a band tshirt unless i listen to the band, and even then i have to be a big fan and i never wear a gig shirt unless i actually went to one of the gigs listed!
The only thing that bugs me is how long it will be until modern metal like Machine Head, Children of Bodom, Opeth etc becomes 'trendy'. Im hoping it will never happen but you never know

Re: Band/Gig T-Shirts

But yet we don't see many rock fans wearing Sugababes T-shirts under their leather biker jackets do we.

There could be a niche in the market here; forget the pink Led Zep shirts with the sequins, we could make some Spice Girls 'sew on' jacket patches.

Or maybe not.

Depends what it is. I sold a Guns and Roses shirt I bought at a busy but not sold out gig at Hammersmith Odeon in 87 around the time of the first album. I paid 6 quid at the time and listed it on ebay about 5 or so years ago with a 4.99 start price and no reserve. It sold for £92! Think that was a bit of a one off though.

If you have anything in large or XL I maybe interested myself if they're from any gigs I may have been at. Send me a list if you can.

Re: Band/Gig T-Shirts

I went to a club wearing my The Cult T-shirt with the Electric album on the front... I got this tit questioning me about the band and what there former name was and who was in the band and what my faves were off all the albums - it seemed to **** him off that I answered them all, Im 100% positive he was questioning me cos he thought I was just wearing it like these dicks who know nothing about the bands.

Re: Band/Gig T-Shirts

I've a few shirts from gigs, but I tend not to wear them.

I wouldn't mind this Dark Side one though. It's not a tour shirt but combines 2 of my most loved things into a fun shirt.
