Frank Zappa 200 Motels DVD

Play seem to be listing quite a few FZ DVDs of dubious legality, wonder if this is kosher Play.com (UK) : Frank Zappa: 200 Motels : Music DVD - Free Delivery

Looks as if it's a re-release.
Looks legit enough as it is listed on Amazon as well.
Online retailers are pretty careful nowadays about counterfiet goods.
Just had a look on Play. The ones listed all look legit. Even ' Does humour Belong In Music ' with it's shabby looking cover. I own it.

Baby Snakes, Dub Room and Does Humour are definitely legit but A Token of His Extreme, Broadcast Archives and Live Transmissions look a bit rum when you read what purchasers have said about them. I'm hoping 200 Motels is OK, I suspect it may be an Optimum release as they've been doing some MGM stuff though I never thought the rights to 200 Motels would be sorted out between MGM and Warner (look how long the soundtrack took to get a CD issue). Don't forget The Torture Never Stops from Barfko-SwillÂ*ZAPPA ON DVDÂ*Â*|Â*Frank Zappa The Torture Never Stops DVDÂ*|Â*Shop the Barfko-Swill Official Store

True what you say about the CD. Only took them 20 odd years
Pretty sure they will be OK.
The Torture Never Stops looks brilliant. Caught the flash on the Zappa website. The best Zappa line up ? IMO pretty well - hopefully Steve Vai will be there even if he isn't mentioned in the blurb.

Re: Frank Zappa 200 Motels DVD

Finally got a copy. Issued by that well known label Way Of Wizards so either a boot or charitably described as public domain. Difficult to assess quality as the film was only shot on video but reds bleed badly and the whole thing looks no better than my VHS to DVDR copy. Single layer disc with 2.0 sound. Naughty Play.com

Re: Frank Zappa 200 Motels DVD

Yes this is a very poor quality DVD

Looks like a direct transfer from an old NTSC video-tape or a transfer from a VCD transferred from an old NTSC tape . I think that original movie was shot on video rather than film.

Don't waste your money on this like I did

Apparently there will be an "official" release sometime in the future which will include an interview with Tony Palmer

It was shot on video. I saw it in a cinema and it was very bad picture quality. Part of the territorry I'm afraid

All the best
