Does anyone know of download or torrent sites for music of better quality than mp3? Thinking of CD primarily, but any SACD, DVDA etc would be welcome too.

I'm not necessarily looking for "illegal" downloads. If any site were offering better than CD quality downloads I would use the service, but i'm not paying good money for mp3s.
All the music on iTunes is 128kb/s or 256kb/s mp3. I would have thought there was a (maybe limited) market for high quality downloadable audio, but can't seem to find anyone providing it.

As DVD-A and SACD are mediums which cannot be ripped (despite claims to the contrary) you can neither up or download them.
There are vinyl recordings that have been transferred to digital medium, which of course offer better sound than CD, but these are rare.
As for CD quality, I would try LFC's links for FLAC or other lossless downloads.

Recently came across this site for downloading music - Boomkat - Your independent music specialist
Great site if you like some of the more "off the wall" type stuff and experimental elctronica, and most of it seems to have no DRM and is in either 320kbps 44kHz or FLAC.
Got some Wooden Shjips and Holy **** which is excellent but obviously not everybodies cup of tea

For anyone prepared to take a 'lucky dip' approach I can heartily recommend the B&W Music Club.
The 'albums' are recorded by Peter Gabriel in his studio and released in Flac and Apple Lossless formats.
