Had a listen to this at the weekend, first listen is not bad, some good tracks, seems to be a logical progression from the last album. After a few more listens I think it will grow on me quite a bit. Haven't looked forward to this one much but quite suprised so far.

I'm actually quite surprised with it. My view on Oasis as a whole is you can always expect a certain level of quality (my opinion ) but don't hold out for a hugely progressive/different sound (they tend to stick to what they know best).
After a few listens though, I'm starting to really like it. I don't think it has any really stand-out "single" tracks but on a whole is a very decent listen.
8/10
Let the Gallagher bashing begin

I bought this album off of Napster on the day of release and my first impressions were good if a bit samey samey!
But as a LostFanBoy has noted it definatly grows on you the more you listen to it.
After at least 6 listens this album I would say is a real return to form!
I was going to pick my stand out tracks, but to be honest I can't because all the track are excellent
I agree that apart from The Shock of the Lightning there isn't any "single" material here at all, which is a good thing because a "popier" track would most definatly spoil this albums ebb & flow. This album is better apreciated as a whole rather than as a series of tracks!
Like most of my favourite albums in my collection, the one's that have endless repeatable listening value are the albums that didn't particulary impress me on the first couple of listens.
Buy and enjoy.

From the above comments, it deffo sounds like an album that improves with repeated listening
I've only had 3 full listens so far; so might be time to stick it on the i-Pod and give it some attention. A couple of tracks did stand out though, the last track being one of them.
However good it is, it won't be as good as the Glasvegas album
Ian.

Well I would like to back up what others have said really, I'm really liking it (but as a long time Oasis fan I usually do) the one thing that really stands out for me is how much better the Noel sung songs are (try saying that fast).
I prefer Noel's voice anyway recently as Liam seems a little strained these days (especially live) but I think Noel has really kept the best songs for himself this time.
Stand out tracks for me are:
3. Waiting for the rapture
4. Shock of the lighting
6. (Get off your) High horse Lady (best track on the album IMO)
7. To be where there's life (can't beat a bit of sitar)
I like the more heavy style too, slightly more bass and not so polished production.
I like.

Because of reading all the hype about this being a different Oasis album I went onto iTunes to listen to the tracks. Now you only get 15 seconds or so of them but I was hugely disappointed by what I heard, so I can't see me buying this.
I was pleased to hear the Noel sings on a few tracks as I've always thought that Liam is a crap singer.
