Had it a while - and it's still in my car CD changer. Found it difficult to get into the first two albums (Iowa especially) but am really enjoying this one.
I've heard some people say it's a lot softer than the other two but I'm not sure I'd agree with that.
The opening 4 tracks are excellent!
Cheers,
Ian

I'm not big on some of their earlier stuff, but I bought, and enjoyed Subliminal Verses. This one seems to be a development of that album.
What I've heard seems ok. Having said that, it always takes me a while to get into Slipknots message.

Excellent album. You can hear the maturity of the Stone Sour stuff but mixed in with the earlier Slipknot sound it makes for a great sound. Not as good as Vol 3 but still highly recommended.

i've listened to it a couple of times and although i don't really like it (or subliminal verses) as much as Iowa, it is a great album. Don't like Corey's new mask much though

I am really into this album - I just wish they could ditch their dodgy image or rather people could look past the image. This album shows alot more maturity and overall Im really loving the 'singalong' choruses! I actually think its better than Vol:3. I really like Stone Sour too, and this album seems like a cross between Sour and Vol:3.

My 18 month daughter loves "Before I Forget", and dances whenever it gets played!
Only heard the single from the new album, might pick it up and see what its like.

Got the album last week, had a listen, some of it's not bad but they seem to have lost the some of the edge they once had. Much prefer their earlier stuff. |

I like it, a definate progression from them. It seems a lot more mature and focussed than their earlier albums.
Saying that I think I prefer their earlier stuff, especially the self-titled one.

I agree with everyone else on the fact i prefer the earlier albums, but im still impressed with this one too. Rick Rubin definately brings out the best in people.
and yeah im not keen on coreys mask either...

Love it...."Are you ready for the time of your life?"
Good range of tracks and even "snuff" (the ballad toward the end of the album) has grown on me despite an early reservation as being a bit too soft without the twisted edge of something like Vermilion.
This is a solid album, but I still prefer Vol.3 - in my opinion, that album must go down as one of the all time classic metal albums.

This album has a better blending of the classic Slipknot sound and the newer Stone Sour influence. Great variety of sound, style and metalness(this is a word!!). I think they made a mistake with the Vermillion remix as it reminds me after listening to this album that Vol 3 was a better album.
Still a great album though, totally recommended.
