Glasvegas's debut.

Just downloaded the self titled debut album by Glasvegas and it's absolutely stunning!
Great tunes and great lyricaly (When I can understand the strong Glaswegian accents) And production that reminds me a lot of The Jesus & Mary chain.

Standout tracks......

Flowers & football tops.
It's my own cheating heart
Daddy's gone
Stabbed.

10/10

Lasted about 19 seconds and turned it off.

Re: Glasvegas's debut.

I've only heard the single "Your Daddy's Gone" or whatever it's called. They're certainly the Proclaimers for the younger generation! The accent seems really forced. I can't make up my mind if I like them or not tbh (and yes, I'm a Weegie!)

Re: Glasvegas's debut.

They sound like The Ramones as produced by Phil Spector...stunning debut album although the start is a little bit stronger than the finish on early listens

Re: Glasvegas's debut.

Someone was trying to tell me that they're the best Scottish band of all time. I've only heard bits and pieces but I wasn't overly impressed by them - they're certainly no Idlewild.

Re: Glasvegas's debut.

Just stumbled across this thread........

Everyone's opinion will be different, but for me they've made the album of the year. Possibly the best album of the last 5 years. I've seen them live twice, and they were amazing both times.

As the OP mentioned, Flowers and Football Tops and Cheating Heart are the two that really stand out for me, but there's not a bad track on the album, they're all fantastic songs.

Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but its certainly mine

Ian.

Re: Glasvegas's debut.

I only got this album yesterday, on the back of a few mates telling me that it was ace and their Scotland's best new band...
I'll have to give it a few more listens before I really make my mind up, but so far the first four songs are really good. I do like the voice but just wish in some of the songs it was that bit more powerful.
