The gaslight anthem?

Anybody listening to this band ?

There is something that really sucks me in about the sound of this band. I cant put my finger on it. Sounds like Springsteen (who I really am not a big fan of), sounds a bit like the Clash, a bit like the Ramones.......but over it all is a great big pop sensibility, the sort of thing that gets people up and waving arms around and feeling great.

Suprised I have not come across them before. A long way from what I am listening to currently, but this re-affirms that there is good music out there that does not have a metal edge. It's not a cutting edge album but does hit the target of great music in a way most indie bands manage to fall well short.

Worth a listen if you like classic springsteen with a punk flair.

Re: The gaslight anthem?

This band are amazing! I've been a fan for well over a year now and I'm shocked it's taken so long for people to sit up and take notice. I caught them live last year in Florida at Gainesville Fest and then again a couple of times in London last month and they were great every time. In fact so good, I even attempted a stage dive but was wrestled off the stage by 3 security guards which may have been for the best to be honest as at 36 I'm getting too old for that kind of behaviour! Funny what all day bank holiday drinking can do to you!

They're back in the UK for 3 more shows at the beginning of December. If you like guitar based alternative music then definitely check them out.

Hear them here:

Re: The gaslight anthem?

My pet hate on the album is the echo on the vocals. There is also definitely an even better band in there just waiting to get out.
