All I wanted was something that sounded like "Metallica" and whilst that's difficult to define after 27 years doing what they do, this just sounds right to my ears.
Day That Never Comes :First half thumbsdow Sounds like a load or Reload reject track for the first 5 minutes. The second half of the song is excellent. They have let Kirk loose again, it is vicious, dirty and awesome.
Could be a very interesting album. If they can get the mix of the 80's and 90's stuff together with a touch of St Anger it will be amazing.
Sounds like a rehash of everything they did before.
I know that many people are comfortable with a return to something they recognise, but to me they sound washed up and old. The spark has gone. As young angry guys the music was passionate and propulsive, this just seems old and dead.
Death Magnetic ! They should have just gone for necrophillia (an attraction to corpses).
Just in case you might have wondered, check my Avatar Im a long time fan.
I like the song, Kirk and Lars have improved loads. James voice is worse than ever though, really weak. Still though it's nothing compared to the first 4 albums and I highly doubt anything they ever write will compare with them.
Gotta be honest, when I first heard the beginning of this track I thought LOAD & Re-LOAD......and Oh No not again!!! But its such a grower. Think I must have listened to it 20-30 times so far and it deffinately reminds me of Fade to Black. Just wish I was at Leeds tonight
It's not bad, I haven't heard any of the albums since Smell the Glove (which I though had too much filler) but the tracks I have heard since then I have not got particularly excited about. I think I must be too old now to get excited about them, they have dropped off my radar (but I still play RtL on a regular basis )
The intro (0:49) reminds me of Rain by The Cult and the twin guitar stuff in second half (5:20) reminds me of Iron Maiden
yep quite clearly been listening to the cult, and revisting some of there earlier albums to remember why there Metallica, not the stuff from the last few albums.
cant wait for the new album
I like it Metallica are back on form they were great in Dublina great gig. Reall good played really well Cyanide sounded even better as i got to hear it live.
mmmmm, not too sure,it sounds like a little bit of everything they have done in the past.i need to hear it on my amp not the laptops ****** speakers. At least his drums sound normal.First impression......not too good im afraid(on the laptop mind you). The amount of songs they have under their belts is incredible,so to make a brand new song/sound must be so hard, thats when you get sounds like st anger.Im a massive fan of metallica,so i dont want to not like it.ill see how it goes on my speakers and amp.fingers crossed.
A few more tidbits about the upcoming events in Berlin and London
Greetings on a Monday evening. A few weeks back we told you about two events coming up on September 12 in Berlin, Germany, and September 15 in London, England to celebrate the release of a certain record. Time for more details!
First off, how about a location? The fabulous 02 World in Berlin and 02 in London will be the sites of our little bashes . . . and we're really excited that in Berlin this will be the very first event at the brand new arena. As we mentioned before, we want to hang with some of our closest friends from the Fan Club and Mission Metallica, so tickets will only be available to those of you registered on the sites. More details on how to get those tickets and when they go on sale will be posted later this week.
Because this is a celebration, tickets prices will be, shall we say, “retro?” Only ten Euros for Berlin, five pounds in London! And the best part is that all the proceeds from the sale of tickets will be donated to local charities. We want everyone to have a chance to join us, so there will be a two ticket limit per member, and you will only be able to pick up your tickets at the box office on the day of the show.
Check back here for dates and times for the ticket sales, and in general more information at the end of this week.
See Metallica at the O2 Arena for a fiver Fancy seeing the world's biggest metal band for less than the price of a pizza? No? Honestly, there's no pleasing some people

Fancy seeing Metallica? No? Perhaps you would be tempted if the concert were to cost you a bit less than normal. £30, say. All right, how about £20? OK, tell you what, £10? Right, final offer - five quid. You can see the world's biggest metal band, for less than the price of a pizza.
Admittedly, some of you will still not be persuaded, especially 27 years into Metallica's career. But we suspect the band will not have any trouble filling the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena in London when it costs just £5 to get in. And that is exactly what Metallica announced they will be charging. Plus, if you want to catch them in Berlin's 17,000-capacity O2 World Arena on September 12 it will cost you €12 (£7). Bargain.
Tickets for both concerts will only be available through the band's fan club and website, and proceeds will go to charity.
Metallica are celebrating their ninth studio album, Death Magnetic, produced by Rick Rubin, which will be released on the day of their Berlin show. Oh, and if you like your metal in an unwieldy old-school format, you will be able to buy it as a five-LP vinyl set.
Death Magnetic's debut single, The Day That Never Comes, is now streaming from Metallica's MySpace in all its eight-minute glory.
I liked it - sounded old school Metallica in the form of "One" "Fade to Black "Sanitarium" etc. which is no bad thing! I just think they have reached a stage where its hard to reinvent and please the hardcore fans, so why not go ahead and do what you do best....and do it using a style that got them famous in the first place! No bad thing for me...works for Iron Maiden, Ac/dc etc.
