Alanis Morissette - Flavors of Entanglement

It's probably uber-uncool to actually admit to liking our Canadian fire-brand.

But I do, so there.

And I'd just like to mention that her latest album is possibly her best yet.

Yes, I know everyone thinks Jagged Little Pill was it and everything that follows is a pale shadow.

But I've liked all her albums to be honest. Not every track. But enough on each to warrant keeping it. And the later albums seem to have more tracks I like.

Highlights on Flavors...

Underneath - the single, very catchy

Moratorium - hilarious lyrics, another broken relationship laid bare

Giggling Again For No Reason - I know, how can anyone possible like a track with such a title? A great pop song.

Tapes - currently my favourite AM track - ever!!

Orchid - only on the bonus disc, the one track that makes the deluxe version worth it. An excuse to put female-genitalia-type imagery on the rear cover of course. But a really good track too.

Feel free to flame me. But she is a Goddess.

Re: Alanis Morissette - Flavors of Entanglement

I must admit I play her stuff a lot but I have mixed feelings about the new album.

Alanis seems to have gone to far in incorprating the sub continent style of music in a lot of the tracks, some of it good but some of times it just seems too much.

Apart from that I like this part of your taste in music.

As you said let the flaming begin.

Forgot to mention excellent production by Guy Sigsworth.

Who worked with Imogen Heap as Frou Frou.

I'm really going for broke here by admitting I like Imogen Heap too. Posh Essex girl to boot!

That's it, my cred's gone!

Re: Alanis Morissette - Flavors of Entanglement

I have Jagged LIttle Pill which I loved and was my most played album for year. Then I got Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie which had some tunes I liked but didn't make the favorite box! I got the unplugged album which is also great! Can't beat accoustic versions of some great tracks.

Not heard the new one yet as I think Supposed FIJ put me off a bit but if you reckon its good I might have to give it a go!

I will put my hands up too and say the girl has talent!

I really like the new album as well, definately her best for a while. She was pretty good live as well.

Yep, Tapes is the one that instantly jumped out at me on first listen. Probably my favourite track by anyone at the moment. Melody, lyrics, instrumentation, mood - they are all perfect.

I probably should have added 'Incomplete' to the list too. Another personal tussle with fame/wealth vs lack of soul-mate/children.

Without knowing her she seems as complex and high-maintenance as they come. But perhaps she's a pussy-cat at heart.

I'm still waiting for a DVD to appear of all her vids too. Unbelievable one isn't available.

I have both Imogen Heap albums plus the Frou Frou album Have you heard of Temposhark? Because both Guy and Imogen do some stuff for one of their tracks.

As for the AM album I am undecided. A few of the tracks I love though

Hi, yes I've got the Temposhark track, I'll need to listen to it again because it didn't jump out at me. I seem to have collected most of odds and sods she's collaborated on, even the Nik Kershaw stuff!
