Question Help needed to find an album

Forgive me for such a poor thread title but I'm trying to find an album that I purchased in the early Nineties. The problem is I can't remember the band's name, the album title or even the song that made me buy the album.

What I can remember is that the album was available in the UK somewhere between 1992 and 1994. It was an American Hard Rock/ heavy metal band with music somewhere along the lines of Bon Jovi , Def Leppard or similar ilk. I originally saw/heard the music on MTV headbangers ball which a friend recorded a few shows for me. Not that it helps but I purchased the album in HMV. The band or the album wasn't well known as far as I know .

Now what I was wondering is is there a database of all hard rock albums released in the UK sorted by year on the internet, and if there is can somebody post a link?

Or does anyone know how I can get track listings from the MTV headbangers ball for those time periods?

Also if anyone has any ideas of on how I can track down this album any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did they have long hair? Only kidding! What did the cover of the album look like? Have you looked on last.fm? It's a good site for finding bands to your taste. A mate of mine has some mp3 cds made up with American Rock on one (about 100 albums) and another with British stuff. I could ask him but a bit more to go on would help!

Thanks for your help guys but I've managed to find it. After several hours of searching I found a website called

http://www.rockdetector.com

... I tried many potential track key words, American hard-rock band searches and scrolling through thousands of listings I found it. I was looking for "Bangalore choir - on target " with "loaded gun" being the track I most wanted from the album .

It basically builds up a profile based on the music you listen to by scrobbling (if that's a word?). Its like facebook for music (sort of) but if you do a basic search for an artist, it will suggest others of the same type for you to listen to.

There's a FAQ HERE. I keep meaning to sign up as a few of mates swear by it. Its very popular in the squeezebox community (music streaming device).

PS. Glad you found it though!! It can be very frustrating.

A great band that's on Pirate Radio's playlist (plug,plug )

You'll find band/album details here http://heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/band.cgi?BandNum=101 Heavy Harmonies is a great reference site.

Nice site

I remember searching the shelves of many a music shops for bands I'd heard on Headbangers Ball!

if tight trousers ,and the high pitched vocals that go along with them, had also been mentioned then they could have been identified in seconds

I saw Sebastian Bach support GnR last year, he rocked (I'm sure Scott Ian of Anthrax was playing guitar for him). He trotted out the Skid Row classics and he can still Wail like a good un. The guy's huge too, built like a wrestler. Bullets for my Valentine, who came on afterward, seemed tiny in comparison, sound too
