Cough Cough......Blush

Now i know that recently some members admitted a preference for Country music, but i'm not going to go that far!

Traditional Irish Jig music?

Anyone know any good examples, good artists etc?

I saw a band called Drop The Box at a festival last year, bought the CD and there is a live track on the CD called Dubset which is essentially Irish Jig. I love it, It is actually impossible to play it and not tap your fingers and i'm looking for some more!

Theres no need to be embarassed M8, everyone already knew you were a closet folky

I did a post about the FOS brothers and posted a link, you can download the MP3s from their site. Gambit had a listen and thought it was OK. Its Irish folk, with an electric twist and definitely foot tappy, let me know what you think. I ordered the CD a few days ago, not got it yet .

if you like folky rock, try a CD collection called the Elctric Muse:here. it charts the progression of folk into irish rock, very good collection. Also, you can go wrong with a bit of Rory Gallagher

Hi,

My current favorite Irish artists are:

Flook http://www.flook.co.uk especially the album 'Rubai'

Michael McGoldrick http://www.prideofmanchester.com/mus...McGoldrick.htm especially 'Fused'

Lunasa http://www.lunasa.ie

The Flook site has a few audio clips on it.

Glad you liked it. That reminds me that I've not played that album for a while - something that will be rectified immediately...

Track 5 lets it down though IMHO, bit too slow for my liking.

If you want a good Irish band you can't beat the saw doctors. Don't just buy the CD, make sure you see them live...
