Stings Bum Note

Take a listen to the intro to 'Roxanne' again...

A little way in theres an awful 'chord' played on the piano, totally out of place - followed by Sting laughing...

I'm told the session was recorded in a very small studio with a piano still in there. It was so cramped that Sting accidentally sat on the exposed keyboard whilst recording, and laughed when he produced the aforementioned bum note...

No idea if this is true or just an Urban Legend, but it certainly explains what is an otherwise totally out of place piano note !!!

I had a listen just now - you're right!

Funny thing is, I've heard that song so many times I remember the "laugh" and I even "sing along" to the laugh when I hear the song come on the radio - but I never picked up the "bum" note!

Have you ever heard Ten Summoners tales the laserdisc or video version? During 'Love is stronger than justice' the double bass falls down with a crash and it's been left into the recording.

It just adds fun into the music and makes it more interesting.

Personally I think Sting is a superb artist and I'm a massive fan!

I'm a Police fan. Wouldn't really say I was a Sting fan though.

The duff chord gives that intro a special something (hehe) - does sound like somebody accidentally pressed a bunch of random keys, I must admit. Who knows what the real deal is...
