Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

Like this thread!!

Have tons of gear and pedals that are sitting around at the moment. But for my latest gig set-up its pretty simple:

guitars - Ibanez JS100 (Satriani Model) and US Fender Strat
amp - Hughes and Kettner Triamp Mk1 100w head (awesome!!!)
cab - marshall 4 x 12
no pedals live as the amp has 3 channels with 2 settings each, so loads of flexibility!

non-used pedals include Jim Dunlop Crybaby, MXR Phase 90, Coloursound Tremelo, Boss OD2, Boss GE7, Zoom Digital Delay, DOD Delay pedal etc.

Also have a yamaha Electro/Acoustic and a Marshall JMP 50 watt head.

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

Thanks. The Eggle is my latest addition. Took me a while to find the right one.

Just one more to add to my collection I think. An 90's Eggle Berlin. Had one once. Should never have sold it.

Not only are the Eggle's excellent (particularly the earlier ones) they are British too.

If ever you get a chance to play one give it a try.

The Jem is an '88 original so that flower pattern is real cloth, not a spray job

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

oh dear oh dear oh dear........

I saw this thread and got all excited... I was going to put my gear on here... but looking at the above it would obviously insult you all for me to mention my £50 ebuyer special with amp etc....

Having said that I cant play the bloody thing and I have had it 2 years...

Sorry if this is a hi-jack at all but can someone recommend a cheapish set of strings my my basic leccy guitar as mine is always going out of tune and I have been told better strings will help.....

Also, any good websites etc to give me some free lessons???

Is it my imagination or do you have to have double jointed left wrist to play the leccy guitar?????

we all have to start somewhere I use fender and Ernie Ball strings, about £5 to £6 but I would think its a problem with the guitar, youtube has some good stuff on and also try http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ good luck

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

Post your kit here anyway - everyone has to start somewhere.

I don't play so much now but still enjoy mucking about on my own. Left hand finger dislocations (stupid rugby) and a current broken arm have seen to that.

Just google'd "free beginners guitar lessons online" and there are quite a few sites.

As for strings I like these http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/produ...ectric_strings

I know they are a little expensive but they last ages.

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

Glad to see this thread has taken off.

I now think, or rather am sure, I need a new amp. A couple of days ago, I was practising and knocked a pint of beer and the contents of an ashtray over it (very rock n roll )

Anyway, it is now distorting badly when peaking. AC\DC stuff is painful. Amp was never too much kop to begin with to be honest.

Who can recommend me a decent combo within the £200-£300 range. I dont mid if it's solid state or tube. As long as it's versatile as I play many different styles from country to Black Sabbath.

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

Gibson Les Paul Standard (the preciooouuussssss)
Yamaha CPX900 (its pretty new, you can read about it here)
Fender Gemini II
Boss GT-8
Marshall 8240 Combo.

I'm giving some very serious consideration to buying a PRS 513. They cost and arm and a leg but I feel I need some sort of superstrat and that thing is the canines gonads.

To the guy who was asking for lessons earlier. Here is a good (and free) site

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

Okay, here goes:

Tanglewood Acoustic (can't think of the model number TW-15 possibly)
Takamine EF341SC
Fender Telecaster Highway 1 (American)
Fender Strat (American Standard)
Gretsch Nashville
Gibson Les Paul Classic
Fender Telecaster '52 reissue

Fender Hot Rod Amp (goes to 12...)
Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah pedal
Eric Clapton Crossroads pedal (it's great!)
Boss Blues Pedal
English Muff'n

I do play all of them, just some more often than others!

Who are the official AVForums house band!?!

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

Right, lets see...

Guitars

U.S. Fender Strat (with Texas Special Pickups)
Ibanez PGM301 (just got it last week. AMAZING AXE!!)
Dean Razorback
Dean 30th Anniversary ML
Epiphone Les Paul (with Pearly Gates p/u in the bridge)
Dean Z Tobacoburst

Basses

Aria Pro II
Mazeti 6 String Fretless

Amp

Laney VHR100

Effects

Line 6 POD X3
Digitech Jimi Hendrix Experience
Ibanez Tubescreamer TS-09

Im looking to maybe get rid of the Laney and get the new Marshall Vintage Modern. Heard some really good things about them.

If anyone has £800 to spend and needs a totally versatile plays-anything-and-everything-from-jazz-to-death metal, get an Ibanez PGM.
Ive been totally blown away with mine. I could honestly sell all my other guitars, and aside from the fixed bridge Id never miss any of them.

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

Guitars:

Les Paul Standard, tobacco-burst with EMG '81 and '85 pickups (I've removed the scratchplate since taking the photo - looks much better)

Washburn N3 with BL-XL500 pickup in bridge

A slightly battered Peavey Wolfgang SE I picked up for £80. Horrible amber finish but plays well - it's getting stripped and resprayed in a "Frankenstein" finish and kitted out with a kill switch

Amp wise I've got a baby Mesa Boogie F30 combo, don't really need anything bigger and it sounds amazing.

I just use pedals now as rack equipment scares the s**t outta me! I use a Bad Horsie II wah, Dunlop Rotovibe and Boss Chorus and Delay.

My biggest regret was selling my Richie Sambora USA Strat to help fund my trip around the States in 2001

My biggest regret was selling my Richie Sambora USA Strat to help fund my trip around the States in 2001
Thats a lovely burst Mine is cherry sunburst. Its the classic look but I do love those tobacoo bursts too.

And yes, a Les Paul is so sexier without the scratch plate

Re: Guitar Players - What gear you got?

I'm a bit of a novice so here goes...

Squier Strat Affinity (Sunburst)
Vox Pathfinder 10
Zoom G1X

Pretty good for beginners!
