Best intro

With the imminent release of Dark Side Of The Moon,I was wondering what is your favourite intro of all time.
For me it has to be Time from above album

Van Halen - '1984' (stunning use of keyboards on a rock album of that time - sounds immense even today)

Kiss - 'Alive II' - the spoken word intro and sounds of the pyro going off still sends shivers down my spine.

Intro to a song, or intro to an album?

Song - "Love Spreads" by the Stone Roses. Quality bit of John Squire / Les Paul action.

Album - quite like the way the Stereophonics "Just Enough Education" album starts with the gospel singers humming quietly, so you turn it up to hear them, and then in come the guitars on "Las Vegas 2times" leading to broken windows for miles around...

Call Of Ktulu - Metallica

It starts off with acoustic guitar accompanied by 'wind' noises then erupts into what can only be described as Heavy Metal thunder

For an introduction to an album, Tool- Lateralus
and for a song, Incubus- Clean

Cool

Layla: Derrick and the Dominoes
Baker Street: Gerry Rafferty
One of These Nights: Eagles
Papa Was a Rolling Stone: Temptations

Shortens but good ones.

Backstabbers: O’Jays
I Heard It Through The Grapevine: Marvin Gaye
You’re So Vain: Carly Simon

letitbleed I have often thought for a the sheer hell of it when it has gone dark, opening the window taking a speaker over to it turning the volume up and playing the opening to Time then shutting the curtains before anyone knows it was me.

Top two have to be

Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams

Sweet Child O' Mine - G'n'R

Loads of others but those two always have me reaching for the volume button

The soaring organ intro that The Meters used for their cover of STORMY knocks me back every time I hear it.

best album intros and interludes (rather than an actual part of a song) are on White Zombie's El Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol 1.

creepy horror film dialogue snippets from David Warner (great voice), explosions and bats. sets a great mood for the rest of the album.

Oh without a doubt

Hina - Dave Lee Roth. Top geeetarr from Mr Steve Via.

On the other hand i'm a bit partial to

Love Removal machine - The Cult.

I was dead set on DLR when i first started typing but so many have now filled my head I can't think straight. Must be the limited brain capacity
