R1 Selective Even When Song's Do Chart?

Okay, before I start I have to say I don't class myself as a Radio 1 listener,at least not by choice.Unfortunately I get subjected to this mindless supporter of manufactured s**t all day at work. But one thing I have noticed is that they even choose to ignore stuff that does chart.
I have long been a fan of the band Counting Crows and they recently released a cover of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi",not once did I hear this on Radio one even though it made the top 30.In fact,it was on the slide before I even knew it had charted. Now the charts aren't important to me,that's why it dropped before I knew, but it's kind of annoying to know that what could have been a 3 minute reprieve in my working day was not to be.
Anyone else had this downer bestowed upon them?Name the artiste and how recently;maybe we could send a list to Radio one,I'm sure there are others who are tortured by it day in day out!

Radio One are just a puppet of the record companies. They have an "A-List" which means the song gets played every hour! And a "B-List" which still means that it will be played very regularly... Basically they decide what is going to be a hit and then play it and play it and play it until it is a hit!

All radio stations are the same. A proven case is when KissFm came to Yorskhire. In the first few months their playlist was unpredictable, playing quality new soul/jazz/funk/house mixed with a lot of classics that you don't often hear on the radio.

Then they got bought out and became "Britanny Spears FM" along with all the rest.

In my experience, you have to search out the music you want to listen to and try and find it being played on an internet radio station. Solar Radio and Soul 24-7 in my case, but there are loads of speciality stations out there.

Yeah, radio stations are (indirectly) run by the major labels. They decide which songs are going to be given a chance to chart, then shove them down the listeners throat until they either love it or hate it.

That's why you get so few non-mainstream chart hits or great older songs resurfacing on the charts.
