Heard it several times on vinyl but not on CD. TBH I think there is very limited merit in using something like that to test a system. My way of thinking is that you have to choose from a long list of very poorly produced and engineered music and you need a system that is capable of making anything relatively listenable. If you go the way of HiFi audiophile albums (and I have been that route once upon a time), you end up with a pile of albums that you revere for their sound quality and not for the musical content. In effect the hifi becomes the hobby and the music is secondary, but hey, knock yourself out it is very well recorded on vinyl at least.

Yeah i very much hear what you are saying and i do not intend to be buying much more of this type of product.......i take the view that just like some films are made with a some what better sound track than others even though the film/story itself is cr-p though i do find myself buying dvd's for there sound track content and quality for sure.

I've bought this copy for the xrcd24 quality format to see what is actually missing from my/the regular quality cd/s........and to some degree if you think of it like an audiophile would who buys a certain product usually at a high price to be able to turn something average into someting above average.......with expensive cables, gold plated copper fuses, plus certain iso tek product and others which filter the power or soundstage in what ever way (as you simply said) so i suppose this can be looked upon in the very same way.......it doesn't matter how good your system is if it wasn't recorded with say 15hz/18hz in the first place.......your not going to hear or feel 15hz/18hz.

Absolutely. I have bought several albums over the years to demonstrate my system, most are very simply structured pieces of music, be it guitar, vocals, piano etc. They are so well produced that they stamp all over your other albums and sound brilliant, but you still have to play the sort of music that you like. If this is Husker Du, MBV, Meat puppets etc then you are in for a bitter disappointment in sound quality. If a system only excels at the top end of the audiophile food chain it can really begin to get on your nerves when playing lesser morsels.
