Genesis 1970-1974 SACD release.

Hi, I have been looking forward to the release of the Gabriel era albums on SACD. I keep reading of the demise of SACD as a format so I hope that the 1970-1974 relaese is as planned. Does anyone know of the release date? The best I could find was http://www.genesis-news.com/genesis/.../1970-1974.htm.
It should offer a high quality stereo sound track and also 5.1 surround sound for those that like that sort of thing Looking forward to giving the 5.1 mix a listen.
regards stasis.

Re: Genesis 1970-1974 SACD release.

I don't believe the lack of SACD owners is the result of the delay. They've been delaying the re-release of The Lamb for years now, all down to Mr Gabriel apparently, so this is probably down to him too (although the When In Rome DVD has been put back to May for no apparent reason).

I'm going to get the previous box set before I buy this one. At around £80, they're well worth it.

I have this horrible suspicion that about a year or so hence they'll do a giant set of the whole lot with a life size Slipperman or something

I got the first set with Steve's sig on it, but didn't bother for the 2nd set.

IMHO not worth a tenner extra, however I think the first set Camino were selling quite competitively priced and I got it slightly pre-release too IIRC.

Re: Genesis 1970-1974 SACD release.

Yes got it yesterday, spent most of the day watching and listening. Suppers Ready in DTS 5.1 is pretty amazing as is everthing really.. just temper the surrounds a little, the bass is sublime. I heard flutes for the first timein some pieces.
The running interviews are very welcome. They certainly had their differences with one another but they seem a likeable group. Concert footage is mainly Suppers Ready (2 1/2 Versions) and Musical Box.
Started watching the slide show with 'Lamb Lies Down' an interesting innovation.
Worth every penny !

So, when listening to The Lamb on the DVD, you get to see the original slide show that was used on the tour as opposed to just sitting looking at some static art from the album? Oh, wooooowwww!

I won't be getting this for a while yet. I'm buying them in the order the sets were released so, with mixed feelings, I'm getting the 1983 - 1997 set for Chrimble (promising start, awful ending).

Re: Genesis 1970-1974 SACD release.

Well,I thought I would start with The Lamb on SACD surround.Wow What a difference to my stereo CD.As mentioned earlier, the base is stunning.Half way through Back in N.Y.C. I was wondering whether that my old cottage can survive this onslaught.

I had recently been thinking that SACD may be on its way out,but with Brain Salad Surgery (Still,You Turn Me On is sublime) and now this it must surely have a future.Bring on Wish You Were Here in surround

Edit- I've just discovered I've been a failure as a father. My 20 year old son just walked in and asked whose was this new album!!!! He wouldn't believe this was my favourite Christmas present,on vinyl, when I was 12 years old.The youth of today eh...........

Yes, the slide show follows the story on Lamb, probably cannot see it on SACD, wish they had used DVD-A
