Fibonacci sequence in music-if you have a mind

I am guessing that only a few will want to come with me on this little voyage of discovery

Im sure some of you have heard of this little sequence of numbers:

0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13.........etc

Painters, architects and musicians have been using this natural sequence in various forms. If you want to see a modern band at work with this sequence then Tool is as good as any:

One thing that became apparent during my various information searching bouts is a little known piece of music by the Amen Brothers in 1969. The piece of music is really unimportant, however the real find is a six second piece of drumming which has been sampled. This small section of music is responsible for virtually the entire hip-hop movement and follows the Fibonacci sequence when viewed as a waveform.

This music is now being used by advertisers to sell the latest 'must have products' Anyway I wont bore you with the details, but have a listen here........interesting stuff !

Funny how the theme of copying music comes up in threads so often and this actually offers a good reason why we should build on others work. When you consider the Fibonacci sequence is an ever increasing spiral, then perhaps its important to build on each piece of music by using what has gone before in order to move on.

Let me know what you think .

Proper thought provoking stuff for those who are interested and gets away from the 'best guitarist, best drummer' threads that seem to be increasingly popular in all music forums.

Awesome.

I found a website that mapped some classical music (Beethoven, Bach etc) to charts and Finbonacci sequences a long time back, but I've lost it and can't find it again

Cardas uses it quite a bit, the room setup guideline is interesting and used by more than a few people

Watched that tool video about 3 times today. Wicked!

Didn't Mudvaybe record an album based around some mathmatical equation?

Fibonacci sequence to music sounds like a porn video.

Good post though, I like maths, 'n' stuff.
