Question Kiss: Alive II

Greetings all,

Now I'm not a massive Kiss fan and I'm not even sure how I got into them in the first place, but Alive II is one of my favourite albums of all time!

I'm wondering if any of you know if there are any actual DVDs around of the concert that this album was a recording of as I'd really like to see the concert.

I believe it was recorded circa 1977 on their 'Love Gun' tour, but I can't seem to find any kind of video/DVD available anywhere.

If anyone has any info, I'd be really grateful.

Cheers.

[Edit] - It looks like it was recorded visually, as there are clips in the ad for the re released CD:

They certainly were/are.

Alive II is a good album, but wasn't it erm', 'criticized' for being too heavily overdubbed?

I put it in inverted commas as Kiss were about as popular in the music press as the plague.

A quick bump from me!

Having had another nose around, there's definately footage of this gig around:

YouTube - KISS - Alive 2 (long) promo (HQ)

Damn I'd like to see that concert in full!

I just want to say a big thank you to shb367!

The disks arrived yesterday and having had a quick flick through them I can safely say they are awesome and I think one may indeed be Alive II one I was after!

Thanks again mate.

Re: Kiss: Alive II

According to most trusted sources, the two Kiss: Alive cds were actually recorded in the studio, with audience noise overdubbed. Would certainly explain why theres no footage...

I had heard the same but only for the first alive cd

I found this on http://www.nolifetilmetal.com/kissalivefacts.htm

Eddie Kramer, who produced Alive and Alive II, Comments On Alive!

In the recent issue of Home Recording magazine producer/engineer Eddie Kramer was asked about recording live albums. A couple of names were dropped and KISS was mentioned, since he was the chief producer and engineer on both KISS ALIVE and KISS ALIVE II. When asked if any overdubs were used, he mentioned that since KISS was "all over the bloody place" on stage, it was very hard to be perfect and thus there was a lot of sloppy playing and missed vocals. He also stated that KISS was not very "tight" musically and that the entire KISS ALIVE album except for the drums were all overdubs. The interviewer had said that the album couldn't really be "Alive" then, Eddie replied, "Hardly".

Not a Kiss fan, but I have heard this album before. Dynasty is the only album I really care for by Kiss. Probably the worst one to fans of Kiss
