i'm tempted to go just to see REM alone. i was wondering when they would come back to scotland. i saw them the last few times they've played here since the mid 90s

i haven't had a proper look at the lineup, but i was really into the verve back in the day, primal scream are fantastic live, when i first saw stereophonics at a festival in glasgow i was right down the front, but i left because the crowd were going mental and it started hammering with rain and i couldn't take anymore (it started a really nice day, and i was down the front row for most of the lineup, beck, weller, scream, etc). hopefully amy winehouse will turn up this time, but even if i get front row it would be like standing at the back of the last couple of places i saw her. that's what i don't like about festivals, the crowds are too big, and it's a pain to get from one stage to another. i'm not really satisfied standing at the back or in the middle, unless it's a band i'm not a big fan off. i did well at the last t in the park i went to as i got front row at the main stage on the sunday which kicked off with many bands i was really into, but leaving there to get to the next stage took forever and it was impossible to get a good position. the main problem about being at the back, apart from not getting a good view, is the sound is awful and too quiet

Snow Patrol headlined the main stage on Sunday. You missed them?!

Best performance I have seen at T and maybe anywhere else! They generally seemed to appreciate being there and the way the lead singer reacted to have hundreds of glow sticks thrown at him was genius.

Saw Richard Ashcroft at T in the Park 2006 and he was amazing so expecting great things from The Verve. Kaisers Chiefs were also very good that year.

The Fratellis I was bit disappointed with last year but I hear they have a new album out before the summer so maybe they'll seem fresh again.

All in all it looks a great line up, and last year a few big bands appeared like the Lost Prophets a few months are the initial line up was announced, so fingers crossed for a few more too.

Spot on - I remember watching Snow Patrol and thinking that the singer's clearly having the time of his life, what with him standing as a target for thousands of glow sticks, then getting a couple of boots/trainers/wellies thrown at him - what a great way to round off T '07.

Kings of Leon were great last year, cant wait to see them again, and REM

Yeah this person had managed to sneak in a few bin liners full of glow sticks. Just as we were about to be handed some the security cottoned on to it, and what was left was confiscated. The person in charge of security said he had seen some big acts in the years at other places walk off when glow sticks have been throw at them in there hundreds (and fair enough I suppose), and of course once that happens you've got a pretty peed off crowd. When I saw them start to be thrown at Snow Patrol and it interrupted his singing, I was like "they're gonna walk off" to my mate. However when he just told everyone in the crowd who had a glow stick to throw it at him, so then he could get on with the show earned him a lot of respect.

Of course wellies and shoes being thrown followed. To top it off his guitar then stoppped working for a bit and he had that idiot climb about 60 feet of scaffolding too. To have your guitar stop working and well over a few hundred items thrown at you and still look like you're having a great time must take a lot. I think he ended up going home with one complete pair of trainers in his size from the crowd!

Wouldn't mind seeing REM and RATM, but nothing else leaps out tbh. I can't stand Indie so 90% of that lot would bore me rigid.

i think it was 2005 i went, it was the year bowie pulled out, and i had been looking forward to seeing him again. i'm not sure if snow patrol played or not, but i've never been a fan of theirs, and i think they played at one of the live 8 shows i went to so i think i have seen them in london or edinburgh

i experienced a similar glowsticks incident at the last nite of the prince shows at the o2, sky tv handed out glowsticks to everyone as they broadcast the first couple of songs live on sky news. near the end of the show they turned into projectiles. he was playing in the round in the arena, where the upper tiers bring you closer to god, so the plastic tubes flew everywhere. they banned anyone bringing them in at the aftershow though

Re: T In The Park 2008

Well I've just got back and had an absolutely awesome time.

Me and my mate counted on the way back that we had seen 28 acts over the course of the weekend.

The standouts for us were Vampire Weekend and Rage Against The Machine. We can't believe there's no coverage of RATM on the BBC (I understand it's the band not the BBC's fault), as everyone needs to see their performance. His speech about Bush was proper spot on too.

Anyone else go?
