The Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath

The migraine inducing band are back with a new album and drummer.

The Bedlam in Goliath is out next week and although I thought Amputechture was rather disappointing compared to the previous albums, I will still buy it (along with a load of ibuprofen to combat the inevitable migraine)

Most, if not all, of the album can be listened to on youtube, just do a search for the individual tracks and you'll find several official vids.

Re: The Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath

This one completely passed me by! Can't believe it!

Well I picked it up today, and it's great (well what I've heard so far)

I know what you mean about the headache thing with this lot, especially on Frances the Mute and Amputecture. Not getting it with this one... yet.

I would describe it as a lot more listenable than the previous two albums. It's good stuff.

Give it time to melt into your mind and you will realise, just how great this album really is. Probably my favourite of theirs so far

Yep, it's really good. I got round to listening to it all today.

You might be right about it being the best album of theirs. It will take a couple more listens to make up my mind, it is a very impressive album though.

Re: The Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath

I think there are some cracking songs on it,
but there are a couple which just don't work for me, the worst culprit being Cavalettas (a waste of 10 mins).

I much prefer this to Amputechture, but only time will tell if it is better than De-Loused and Frances. At the moment it seems to lack the dynamic impact of those 2, this one is just constantly full on.
