People at work. He gets a womans lipstick and puts red dots on his face. The boss say " you'd best get to the hospital" Then the woman says "I'll go with him"

They pick up another bloke (Hmmm?) and go to the beach.

Next day they are back in work with sunglass marks on their faces and the boss looks at them oddly.

I've not seen it much. Thats the best I can do

They were using a song by Smash Mouth, I think it might still be that one.
Can't remember exactly what it was called, something about the sun I think.

Just remembered: Walking on the Sun

I actually saw them live once - they were the support band for U2 in Seattle (1997). I think that Walkin on the sun was their only hit.

Don't know about that one.

Found the lyrics for it:

Smash Mouth
Walkin' On The Sun

It ain't no joke I'd like to buy the world a toke
and teach the world to sing in perfect harmony
and teach the world to snuff the fires and the liars
hey i know it's just a song but it's spice for the recipe
this is a love attack i know it went out but it's back
it's just like any fad it retracts before impact
and just like fashion it's a passion for the with it and hip
if you got the goods they'll come and buy it just to stay in the clique
CHORUS:

So don't delay, act now supplies are running out
Allow, if your still alive, six to eight years to arrive
and if you follow there may be a tomorrow but if
the offer's shun, you might as well be walkin' on the sun

Twenty five years ago they spoke out and they broke out
of recession and opression and together they toked
and they folked out with guitars around a bonfire
just singin' and clapin' man what the hell happened
some were spell bound some were hell bound
some they fell down and some got back up and
fought against the melt down
and their kids are hippie chicks all hypocrites
because fashion is smashin' the true meaning of it

CHORUS:

It ain't no joke when mamma's hankercheif is soaked
with the tears because her baby's life has been revoked
the bond is broke up so choke up and focus on the closeup
Mr. Wizard can't perform no GOD like hocus pocus
so don't sit back kick back and watch the world get bushwacked
news at 10:00 your neighborhood is under attack
put away the crack before the crack puts you away
you need to be there when your baby's old enough to relate

CHORUS:

Whenever I see this ad I wonder if anyone from Ford ever looked at the words - doubt they'd be overly keen to associate themselves with drugs of any sort... Unless of course the new Fiesta has a Rizla holder of course!

Six to eight years to arrive!

You might as well be walkin!

I'm still surprised nobody at Ford (or their Ad agency) thought this line was a little dubious to include in their advert...

Anyone else think that Smash Mouth song sounds very much like Stereo MC's??

Maybe it's just me.

I agree it sounds similar, I think it's the singer's vocal affectation that does it.

Also, if you ever hear an old 60's track called "She's Not There" by the Zombies, you'll notice where they got the idea for the music and vocal melody too...

Sarge, don't know why, but when I read your post I had this vision of us having been drunk/stoned for hours with me trying to explain that I'd found the meaning of life at the bottom of my tea cup and you, finally having an epiphany and also 'getting it', suddenly saying:
