Copying MP3 files to CDA

Chaps

How do I go about copying MP3 files to a CD audio format to be played in a normal CD player ?

I am using Nero 5.5 and tried to compile an audio CD and the tracks are copied to the CD with the CDA extension. However, the file sizes are all 1KB and when accessed on the PC they refuse to play.

What am I doing wrong or is there a better way of doing this ? Is there a piece of software (for free) which converts MP3 format to CDA ?

Cheers

You convert the MP3 to WAV, and then WAV to Audio CD I believe.

However depending on the compression rate used the resulting CD may sound utter pants

As long as you're creating an Audio CD, Nero should automatically decompress any MP3s you drag onto its window. Might be worth patching to the latest version of Nero from the Ahead site too.

That is to be expected. The .cda files are not real files; they are just the way that Windows Explorer represents audio CD tracks.

I guess, trying to play the tracks via Explorer (otherwise you'd never see the files and their .cda extensions). Use either a 'real' CD player or CD player software on your PC.

Cheers chaps

As ever informative and correct - tried the compiled CD in a 'proper' CD player and worked fine.

Must start putting my compilations together now.

Another easy way is to use Windows Media player. Version 9 allows you to burn audio CDs from playlists etc.
