Is no one listening to the Battles yet ???

You really should get a listen to these guys. Fantastic musicianship and tight as a knats chuff. They are performing music which is intelligent and different. get the album Mirrored, brilliant. King Crimson for the 21st Century ?

Full hours concert here

26 views and not one comment ? Dont just watch a bit of this concert or you will miss what they do.......order from chaos is the most descriptive.........the drummer is an animal (very influencial from his days in the band Helmet).

Looks like they are playing the Leeds festival too. Damn.

Re: Is no one listening to the Battles yet ???

Just had a quick listen to the tracks on their myspace page.

It seems pretty good... if a little weird. I might pick up their album and listen to it properley rather than off a laptop.

Seems like they could be a grower. The song 'ATLAS' was good even with the odd vocal thing going on.

It does need a decent system to do it justice.

Have another listen. Its weird, but I also bought the album ages back and re-listening has kindled a greater passion for it.

Re: Is no one listening to the Battles yet ???

Well I picked it up (along with a couple of other CD's) today on my lunch break and... I like it.
I don't own anything else like it (tend to listen to metal/ hardcore bands) and wasn't sure i would enjoy a mainly instrumental album, but it's always good to give different things a go.
Glad I did, thanks for bringing them to my attention Karkus30

Glad you liked it. I am a big metal and hardcore fan myself, but like a mixture of good music and this has that 'something' I cant quite put my finger on. The drumming style has really got to me now, that very sparse military style, very powerful with minimal cymbal work and all the effort spent on the groove. I shall be spending some time trying to play like that.

Re: Is no one listening to the Battles yet ???

Saw Battles on Jools a few weeks ago and very impressed. The album is now on my Christmas list.

Re: Is no one listening to the Battles yet ???

I was very much a fan of the EPs, then the actual album was different...still great though, even with munchkin singing...

Re: Is no one listening to the Battles yet ???

i bought this album last year and couldnt get into it at first. i liked a couple of the tracks but the smurf vocals were not to my liking.

i gave the album a second chance and i have to say that i am really liking it now.

recommended to all but give it a few listens before judging.
