Im facinated with everything Nirvana, so after reading Heavier than Heaven (biography by Charles Cross), just had to be totally voyeuristic and read the journals.
Its been beautifully printed, every mark and scribble is legible.
Its a very strange read (as you would probably expect)., a truly tortured soul and misfit poet, living in a world of pain and self dillusion, with flashes of inspiration. You can see the songs get beaten into shape in stages and realise that the lyrics were never meant to make sense, they are only art and create an emotion in the music.
At one point he sudenly gets interested in building his own guitars and re engineering the studio, with bits of plywood and carpet. He was obsessed with lists (he would probably have been very happy in this forum

, making lists of his favourite bands, over and over again.
You cant help feeling sorry for him,but his continual fight with authority and paranoia over the corporate giants ruling society was at odds with his new found fame and fortune in the bosom of the same corporate bodies.
