Thanks: Gave 200, Got 145 | Machine Head - Brixton Academy
Anybody going in November??
Following Sundays amazing Metallica concert I now have the gig going bug & I found out today that Machine Head will be at the Brixton Academy on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th November so I think I will be going.
Now I'm not a big Machine Head fan, basically Sunday was the first time I'de heard them but I will be going mainly for 2 of the support acts...
Trivium & Dragonforce
Both of them are 2 of my current favourite bands & are imo worth paying the £25 ticket price to see even if I'm not really into Machine Head.
So I was just wondering who else might be up for it??
I'll probably be going on the Saturday so I can recover on the Sunday
Neil

They are however pretty good, check out "Anthem (We are the fire)" & "Entrance of the Conflagration" to see what I mean...although they probably wont be upto the standards your clearly used to with Machine Head
As for Dragonforce though, they rock my world
Their Guitar playing is second to none & the songs are completley epic 7+ minute masterpieces.
Check out "Through the Fire & Flames" & "Operation Ground & Pound" for a small taster, then rush out & buy "Sonic Firestorm" & "Inhuman Rampage" you wont be sorry
And I shall take your advice & go pick up some Machine Head now to see what all the fuss is about because while I was trying to stay alive on Sunday during the Machine Head set meant I wasnt actually able to pay that much attention to their music lol

Neil | I do have both Trivium albums, I thought the first one showed promise but this was not realised by the follow up. Also have a few Dragonforce tracks on various compilations, not really my thing. Fast playing can be great, but fast playing and double bass drumming does not make it good. I prefer Machine Head in that respect and I prefer High On Fire to Machine Head (Blessed Black Wings is a cracking album). Poor old Metallica seem to have lost it, centred between trying to regain their original thrash sound but without the passion and the more turgid, polished, melodic Black Album antics (maybe its time to change my Avatar ?)

DragonForce remind me of Helloween, Iced Earth and the like from years ago. I guess they do provide a keanu woah! factor if you've not heard their predecessors.
Trivium are ok, but to me the second album seemed a step backward.
That said, most tempted by this line up. Great to hear Machine Head back to their best and I'd be interested to see if DF cut it live.

I saw Machine Head about 11 years ago when they released Burn My Eyes .... what a live band!
Wish they were playing Ireland this year!

I'm doing both nights and the whole line-up is one of the most scintillating I've seen in years!!
Shadows Fall, Arch Enemy, Dragonforce, Trivium & Machine Head.
I'm gonna be so deaf & achey its untrue!!
