The Battles -one for the proggies ??

Hmmm now I picked up an album by the Battles called mirrored, just couldn't resist the front cover photo with a yellow Tama drumkit centre stage. It just screamed that it was going to be some sort of drumfest.

Anyway, to the album well its impossible to classify it might be what you would get if Yello molested Yes or maybe there is some Orb or brian Eno influence........anyway Im struggling to describe it so I will let you go and look at this link and see if it makes things any clearer http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/articl...42910-mirrored

Anyway, I like it, even the pinky and perky vocals, its quite mad and not too serious. It could be played in a club in places as its so close to dancy. Weird, I like weird. Im almost thinking this is different enough to be called different.

I think some of the riff-age in places is very glam...chuck that one into the melting pot.

I've listened to it a couple of times but can't really get into it. I suspect it's a love-it-or-loathe-it one.

I liked it on first listen, not enough to make it into my record of the year mind you, but it was sufficiently unusual to hold my interest.

Your right with the love it or loathe it, if you read Amazon the reviews are unbelievably mixed with few mediocres.
