Q s top 100 records-just out

Top 100 top 5 were Nirvana, Radiohead, beatle and open mouthed in astonishment, Eminem. I have this Album, thats the Marshall Mavers one and I cant say it sounds like a classic. Nevermind, OK computer, the bends and relvolver are certainly good enough , but Eminem?

I think they were voted by readers though. Explains the Eminem album

Check out Acclaimed Music for a well created list of the greatest albums of all time.

I never understand this fascination with the Beatles and Radiohead... to say both of them are the most over-rated bands in the history of music would be an understatement. Ok Computer? can anyone actually listen to that crud all the way through without committing hari kari.... thought Kid A was a good album though... infinitely more listenable than ok comp.

I agree with Nirvana's position in the top five, Nevermind is one of the greatest albums of all time... and yes of course the Eminem vote is utter nonsense.

careful what you say. i started a thread called "i hate r.e.m." a couple of weeks back, that covered the beatles etc. and if i questioned the common wisdom or validity of any of those bands i was dismissed and insulted by others to the point that the thread was closed.
i gave as good as i got in the end so i suppose i am not entirely blameless.
agree with you 100% on nevermind. gave it a spin again a few weeks ago for the first time in ages and it is a joy to listen to from start to end.

Agreed! OK Computer just isn't one I can listen to too often as it's just too depressing. One of my personal favourite albums that I can always listen too whatever mood is U2's Joshua Tree. Perfection.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - The Bends is Radiohead's best and far better than OK Computer. Love Kid A too and also Amnesiac. But then I'm a Radiohead fan. In fact, Radiohead's first album was their 2nd best (after The Bends) - no one ever seems to mention it

U2's Joshua Tree is most certainly a classic. A great album from start to finish.

Not happy about the Beatles being in there. Now they're over-rated to say the least

No White Stripes then Karkus?

Where's Embrace? Their first album was a classic!

Im afraid white stripes appear at number 27 SG, but I dismiss any bands that are fairly recent as they havent had a chance to stand the test of time.

But I should point out that I listened to and loved OK computer the first time I listened to it (Im not a radiohead fan) and the same goes for the WS except for Hotel bloody Yorba.

U2 Joshua tree at number 16, good album, got it on vinyl, trouble is they copied Pink Floyds system of always producing music with a certain hook built in, this ensures that whatever you listen to by them is instantly recognised and like a big mac, tastes the same wherever you go.

Beatles, certainly stood the test of time, copied by oasis, who had plenty of success. They are one of those bands that were more than the sum of their parts and were happy to experiment and change style without worrying about alienating their tenage fan base.

Oh I agree with ya too (has to be a first ) but I really cannot see what all the fuss is about and why people think they are so great.
