Re: New Linkin Park Album?

Listened to this twice on the way to work this morning, not too sure what to make of it, wasnt bad, just different.

Theres a marked change in style which im not sure about, the sound is still distinctive and you can still tell its Shinoda putting together the tracks, but its still very different.

The first listen through i wasnt hot on it at all TBH, but on the second more attentive listen its grown on me.

Ill with hold judgement till ive listened some more.

I will say so far "What Ive Done" remains my favourite track from the album.

Each to thier own i guess but rubbish might be a tad strong dude.

If they had come out with another carbon copy album like Hybrid Theory would you have been happy? I would have been slightly underwhelmed, at the end of the day they have grown up as have a lot of thier audience.

A lot of bands go through this, Lost Prophets new album is very different sound to thier first, but its not worse simply because its different.

As i said in my previous post im not sold on it yet either but im going to let the fact that its different sink in first and then judge it for what it is.

Re: New Linkin Park Album?

At least the most recent leak will be of a superior quality compaired to the final retail release audio quality wise. It's not had the dynamics compressed out of it :D .

Re: New Linkin Park Album?

Absolutely despise it, got it today, cant put up with it, what happened to the incredible electronic rock mix that lp used to have, i know they say they are going down new routes but they lost for me what made them great, they are now an ok band in general but before they were in a league of their own.

And what is with the new fashion trend of bands trying to get some sort of political message across in their songs, just give it up and get the music right first of all.

Re: New Linkin Park Album?

It's a bit U2 in places!

The clever mix of Rock/Rap/Samples is missing. I don't find myself reaching for the volume control just the track skip button.

Shame. I really wanted to LOVE this album, can't get enough of the last ones. And the DVD of the Mash Up with Jay-Z gets a very regular viewing!

Anyone got any suggestions for an alternative?

Only thing I can think of, would be spineshank, papa roach, static x, or maybe stone sour. Just as close as i can think of, cant really think of anyone that executed what they did as they did.

Sorry...Had to update this thread just to vent my frustration!

In a vane bid to force myself to like this album I have had nothing in the car for the last few days other than this album.

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGHH!

It is SO frustrating, this band are superb..this album is a poor poor shadow of their former work. Listened to Faint tonight just to remind myself why I like them so much..5 repeats later..feeling better now!

Just put the new album on ebay..I can live without it. Shame.

Re: New Linkin Park Album?

I think i will be doing the same, can't really get into it, what a shame. Zane Low from Radio 1 said it was a number 1 selling album, so there may be a few copies on ebay aready.

On the back of it being a new Linkin Parlk album, I'm not surprised it is number one. I bet that half of the people who bought it are LP fans like us and are like us going where have LP gone...I can hear Chester and Mike, where are the rest of the band? No substancial contributions from Hahn or Phoenix.

I can only hope that they read some of the comments from the 'classic' LP fans and perhaps work some old magic into a remix album. I think the songs have promise, they just need some attack. Given Up is probably the best track on it.

Interesting to read this quote on Wikipedia last night

Quote:
In an interview with Chester Bennington it is explained that the new album is a mix of punk, classic rock, and hip-hop beats. "Rick has brought more of a stripped down, classic-rock and hip-hop kind of feel."

"We were looking back at the things that we had done in the past... and I think we just figured that we had exhausted that sound. It was easy for us to replicate, it was easy for other bands to replicate, and we just needed to move on," said Mike Shinoda
NO NO NO...you did not need to move on! You were years ahead of other sounds, know one was going to copy you as know one thought that they could do it any better! And as for Rick..If this is his fault what the hell was he thinking. He also has produced some fantastic albums..how does it not work

Right......time to take some tablets and stop getting so wound up by one album

Thank god I have the other 5!
