Bloc Party - Tuesday 20th Feb - Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

Morning all,

I dip in to read the music section regularly but thought I would contribute for a change.

I was in attendance at last nights gig in Edinburgh and thought I would post what I thought.

First of all I really like Bloc Party, I can see them being the next Radiohead but thats just my opinion.

Now for the gig, I have to say the place was packed. You literally could not move.

They opened with Song For Clay (Dissapear Here) which was absolutely immense, its the opening track from the new album and suited opening a gig perfectly. They then went straight into some oldies, I think it was Banquet next. Then continued to mix old and new and fast and slow for the duration of the gig.

They sounded amazing and very loud. My ears are still ringing as I type.

They dont say very much but it was very obvious after the disaster that was Aberdeen was being put to bed and they were enjoying themselves as were the large crowd of beer fueled Scots.

To me it was very clear that this band are talented and have a real future in British music, whether the British public can accept them, its easy to ridicule intelligence, is another matter. But for now they are on fire and are probably the most important band in British music currently.

Definately a 9/10 for me.

Love Bloc Party...they should be ten times bigger than they are, they deserve it!

Completely disagree; besides, comparing anyone to The Cure and meaning it in a negative way leaves you with a flawed argument from the outset.
