Dream Theater - Siz Degree's of Inner Turbulence (Disc 2)

Anyone else a DT fan? I have been for several years now, and they are one of my most listened to bands....

And one album in particular I can't stop listening to is the second CD from the double disc set "Six Degree's Of Inner Turbuence"

It is phenominal True inspiring and gripping. Such diversity, in style and feel - so many musical types on one record from one band Quality album...

That said, I can't stop playing thier latest studio album "Octavarium" either - it is just on repeat play in my work van.... Deffo thier "Dark Side Of The Moon" indeed

Dream Theater rule. Second disc of SDoIT is better than the first disc in my opinion, but the live version on their latest dvd is killer. My fave album is Scenes from a Memory...

Re: Dream Theater - Siz Degree's of Inner Turbulence (Disc 2)

A lot of people seem to say that SFAM is their fave album. Don't get me wrong, it's a great album, but out of all of them, I don't think I could say it is my fave.

I have a softspot for AWAKE as it is waht spurrned me onto DT, but I would probably go with OCTAVARIUM as my fave album - which is odd as I HATED it at first! But I love it now, and is one of the VERY VERY few albums that I can listen to, then listen to it again straight away! The only other one I can think of right this second that I can also do that with is Dark Side Of The Moon

Images and Words was when I discoved them and it still remains my personal favourite. I still continue to enjoy everything they do, and the Score DVD craps all over Floyds Pulse DVD which i also own, and I love Floyd.

Re: Dream Theater - Siz Degree's of Inner Turbulence (Disc 2)

Only just discovered this lot through my brother, ironically this album too. Very good thus far. The first disc is the better of the two, being less indulgent, but musically the whole set is first rate. Looking forward to buying some more discs to see how consistent they are.

Re: Dream Theater - Siz Degree's of Inner Turbulence (Disc 2)

Each album varies widely from the others - "Train Of Thought" is a fairly heavy album, more metal than the rest, and is dark and brooding. "Falling Into Infinity" is very mainstream (record company basically forced them into making a "radio friendly" album), "Octavarium", as mentioned, is simply STUNNING, but takes a new turn, adding a more modern sound to the band and is quite progressive. "Images and Words" is a very "90's" sounding record, but with some absolutely CRACKING tracks on it, and "Scenes From a Memory : Metropolis Pt 2" is a concept album, wirtten as a screen play, that tells a story in acts and scenes. It's also a tremdous piece of musical genius!

I suggest simply get them all, and put them all on sequence play, or random, and decide for yourself.

The only album by them I don't like is their debut, "When Dream And Day Unite". There are a couple good tracks, but this album had the original vocalist, whom I don't care for vocally, and the music itself isn't really up to parr for what I consider Dream Theater to be
