Music Download sites?

Soz, tried searching around the forum and this has probably been done to death...Can anyone recommend a good legal music download site for the occasional downloader? I fell the need for an Edith Piaf No Regrets.

Now I did try google - there are about 3m sites - I don't fancy P2P - not even sure if that is legal. So for me I'm happy to pay (say) 79p for the above classic track BUT I' don't really want to sign my life away.
I tried Virgin Digital - found the track, right price - listened to a selection of 30 second clips - sweet. But when I tried to buy Terms and condions....blah baah blah. Can down load but can only copy it 5 times else all sorts of threats etc. Now I don't want to copy, slash or burn it 5 times or more but when you buy a CD you can play it when and where you want.

any suggestions and is Virgin in line with other sites? Are there beter ones out there?

All the sites have similar DRM (digital rights management); even iTunes which I use. As far as I am aware you aren't usually tied in to a contract or anything with such sites. There are various download sites including www.tescodownloads.com and HMV http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/navigate...530&pGroupID=8.
All much the same really. You takes yer pick and makes yer choice. I use iTunes because it's convenient.
Or you could just click here ...

Re: Music Download sites?

Is also 79p at the iTunes store
- if you have iTunes (www.apple.com/uk/itunes/download) on your machine, click [here]

I use iTunes as my main audio library on my PC, as well as for syncing my iPod; and I've had no problems burning various playlists of my choice to CD (including tracks legally downloaded through the iTunes store )

Re: Music Download sites?

or just visit your local supermarket, if they havnt got the track on a cheap £2.99 CD with another 50 songs i'll be surprised
then you can rip it yourself and listen/convert/transfer/etc as often as you like

Re: Music Download sites?

Yes I still find it cheaper to buy the CDs and rip them myself in most cases. That way I can rip the track to a low bitrate for listening on the move and rip it to a high bitrate for better quality listening in the house and also make a compilation CD up for the car etc etc.
