Thumbs down 2 DVD's for Christmas....both gone back

Got The Cure Greatest Hits and Chris Rea Road To Hell DVD's, took both back today as unimpressed with the sound on both. The Chris Rea was diabolical on my system

I would like recommendations on what to replace them with, after something properly recorded for DTS or 5.1.

Only music disc I own to date are Queen Greatest 1 & 2, Pink Floyd Pulse and Eagles Farewell (all of which brilliant!)

I'm into all music, just need something to show my system off come the new years bash we're throwing at ours this year

Try The War Of The Worlds Live DVD, the sound is fantastic with 5.1 and DTS.

I'm surprised at the Chris Rea DVD, usually his material is top notch.

Re: 2 DVD's for Christmas....both gone back

Jean Michel Jarre "Jarre In China" DVD video concert. The concert itself was performed in 5.1 watch the docu and see how they did it

Various Artists "Concert for George" tribute concert for George Harrison. contains an excellent rendition of "Sit on my Face" by Monty Python, Tom Hanks as one of the Pythons (in another song standing in for Mr Cleese) and my favourite cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with among others, Clapton on lead+vocals, Paul on keyboards, Ringo on drums. Great sonics and a wonderful concert. (PM me for a video clip of this)

The only part I didn't care for was the first part of the concert - Indian classical music which wasn't my cup of tea

I'd recommend the Rush ReplayX3 3 dvd set of their earlier concerts, but while the sound is awesome, the video transfer isn't stellar. R30 may be a better bet.

The Beatles "Love" (CD+DVD-A) Even if you can't hear the superb high resolution DVD-Audio, you can still play the Beatles in 5.1 surround using the DTS track. No video, but loads of fun.

I don't have it yet, but maybe you could check out Porcupine Tree's "Arriving Somewhere" DVD. I have the two DVD-As (In Absentia and Deadwing) and they are awesome.

Is this the Road To Hell And Back DVD? I recieved this and put it on for a quick listen and thought it sounded very good Not got the greatest setup but was up there with the other dvds I have.
Could it have been a fault with that disc

That was the one, maybe it was me expecting more but I didn't think it was anything special, it was more his singing being a bit ropey.

Got the WOTW DVD today anyway, just what I was after - sounds awesome

Glad you enjoyed WOTW dvd mega_stream. When I watched it the other day I was amazed by the audio quality of this superb DVD.

Another recommendation would be Metallica's S&M, if you like heavy rock complete with a very good orchestra then give this one a try. Also give Peter Gabriels Growing Up DVD a whirl, again great sound with 5.1 and DTS soundtracks and very good visuals.
