War Of The Worlds Live DVD

Watched this DVD yesterday and must say what a stunning live performance this is, accurate and very well produced. Theres some brilliant musicians on the stage with Jeff Wayne conducting. I had the volume fairly loud and had the front room window shaking

The visual side gives a whole new image of what WOTW is about with computer generated graphics being projected on a huge screen at the back of the stage and Richard Burton's narration complete with a 3D effect projection to boot. A huge fighting machine decends onto the stage a short while into the performance, with lights blazing and those green eyes.

This DVD is well worth getting if your a fan of WOTW, the quality of the music and the visuals are well worth a look. A fantastic rendition of this classic album.

Got bought it for Christmas but have not watched yet. I didn't even know it was out but as it has an advance order for tickets inlay for next year my brother said we'll go.

Re: War Of The Worlds Live DVD

Got round to watching it last night. Visually very good and the DTS soundtrack is a belter. If I hadn't been given it as a present and found out it was this good I would have bought it.

Re: War Of The Worlds Live DVD

Got the 2 disc set from Play.com for £9.99. The sound in DTS is excellent (though the LFS was a little weak perhaps). It's all digital too, recorded in HD and the sound in digital 5.1. My only complaints...some post-production dubbing perhaps? Joe Partridges Heat-Ray guitar part seemed straight off the album and some of the orchestra sounded so close to the album it seemed dubbed. Acoustically it really should'nt have sounded so, so similar. But I wasn't at the gig so maybe it was perfectly normal. Took a little while to get used to the "acting" but it was fine. Maybe one or two of the Black Smoke Band need to be a little younger...but no serious complaints. Second favourite Live DVD after Pulse.
