DD 5.1 tracks on DVD A discs

Upgrading to DADA is not really an option for me a the moment. Anyway, I'm quite happy with my Tosh 210 DVD player and Marantz CD 63 CD player. I am however curious about the DD soundtracks on DVDA discs. Are they in 5.1? Will they play in a "normal" DVD player? Are they worth forking out the extra ackers for the DVDA over the bog standard stereo CD?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Bloke

All of the DVD-A titles that I know of have at least DD, many have DTS. Yes they are 5.1.

While I am lucky enough to own a DVD-A machine ( Toshiba 5200 which is th Australian version of the 500e), I understand that the DD and DTS tracks are very good.

These guys give interesting reviews on DVD-A titles.

A reliable Australian site to buy DVD-A from is listed below. As far as I understand, your pound has a great exchange rate when buying gear from us Aussies.
