how to delete the music files Remembered by Windows media player

I found this on the pretext that when i scrubbed and formatted my creative zen mp3 player .Windows media player remembered every song i put on it. . The songs did not even exists in any form as mp3 or wmf in my music folder or anywhere on my computer. If any one else has found this a problem.

it won't just be audio files
... also applies to video files (of whatever genre )
