&*£% SMS deliveries and ticketmaster

This is a rant and please let someone from those two organisations take note >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

If you order tickets from ticketmaster they get sent to you via www.securemailservices.co.uk

As I dont work out of an office and dont hang around at home all day it is very difficult to take delivery of tickets. The old fashioned way of delivering tickets back to the post office or collection point and handing over a bit of ID was fine.

This SMS service is bloody awful, there is no human contact, you ring them for ages and the phone goes dead and you paid for the call !!! Ticketmaster is the same. They have started this service because it is convenient for them and they virtually hold a monopoly on the ticket sales and you have to pay for their convenience.

Theres something wrong here ! they are even starting tickets to the highest bidder auctions. Anyone know how to circumvent this system ??? Who to contact to find out the legality of their set up or review their policies????

Im bloody annoyed

I know what you mean about SMS, they are bloomin awful. As you say they give you two choices, deliver to your place of work or home address Monday to Friday. Quite what you are supposed to do if you work Monday to Friday and can't be in the same place all day and there is nobody sat at home they don't say. I know a lot of credit card companies use them and I have given up cards over it as I can't be bothered to go through the hastle to get the new one. I had ticketmaster use them once when luckily my other half was on maternity leave and so was at home. They don't seem to use them all the time though as I've had standard recorded delivery from them since to the same address.

I recently had to contact SMS about a delivery of tickets from Ticketmaster. I used their website to rearrange the delivery and they confirmed the arrangements to me by text message. Tickets turned up as promised on the Saturday morning. System worked fine for me so can't really complain. Mind you the whole "we will deliver between 08.00 and 18.00" deal is a spectacular PITA but that's not unique to SMS.

What really gets my goat is the charges Toutmaster add to the purchase price - particularly for internet sales. A rip-off.

I'm glad it's not just me then! I've got so fed up with waiting in all day to have some student turn up with my tickets at six o'clock at night in a car ready for the scrapheap that I've started taking the collect at box office option where possible. If it turns out I can't make the gig it means the tickets then go to waste as they need my card for collection. I never thought I'd say it but give the job back to Royal Mail!

It's not just Ticketmaster either. Seetickets use them as well.

Re: &*£% SMS deliveries and ticketmaster

I'm currently waiting for my tickets to be delivered by sms. The problem arose because i needed to arrange to have them delivered to a different address.

The first time I rearranged delivery, they took them to the original address, not the new one. The second time they brought them to the new address but on the wrong day. Today was due to be the third attempt but apparently they have no record of me arranging the delivery even though i spoke to one of their customer services team over the phone.

Hopefully they are now going to turn up on monday but as our bell doesn't work, we live on the second floor and all the customer services woman can promise is that the courier MIGHT be able to missed call me, who knows if i'm ever going to get them.

This whole experience has made me determined never to use ticketmaster or any other company who use sms for delivery again and i'd advise anyone else to do the same unless you want to end up so frustated you could cry.

You get charged £4.95 for a service that is truly shocking!
