Best & Worst Album you've bought recently ?

What are the best albums and worst albums you have bought recently ?

I really like Razorlight & Editors but was dispapointed in Muse 'Origin of Symmetry' (Im hoping it just needs a few listens).

What about anyone else.

i'm sure hiphop fans will have heard of j dilla. he produced the new busta cd which is out next week

i'm a streets fan, but the new album is patchy, and short, a few great tracks, but the rest are lame. it sounds more like demos or something unfinished. they were still great live tho

I quite like Stadium Arcadium actually.

I do think Muse are very overrated though. The only song of their's I rate is 'Sing For Absolution', but even that is too much of a Radiohead rip-off IMO.

I originally thought exactly the same as this, but after several listens I really think Absolution is a superb album.

They are on Jonathon Woss this Fwiday

People keep saying things like 'over rated', but Muse have rarely been that rated. I certainly would not tag them as Radiohead rip offs, although, perhaps you only mean that one song.

Muse are different, they do a different stlyle of music and do a hell of a live gig..........go and see them.

Its rare that I get involved in the 'best bands' type posts and I really am not a big Muse fan, but I do feel the need to defend the 'over rated' tag. They are a worthy band, they do not rip off other bands (well no more than any band TBH). They have an instantly recognisable style and are skilled at playing and performing which they do with great style and passion.

really?

you don't like it then. i think they're great, in fact i'm listening to their first album (second stage turbine blade) right now. hmmm, guess the world would be a boring place if everyone liked the same things.

anywho best and worst albums?

Best = either 36 Crazyfists - Rest Inside The Flames, or
Tool - 10,000 Days

Worst = Probably Khoma - thesecondwave. Just bought it randomly after catching the end of a song on scuzz, thought it sounded ok. sadly the end of that one song, called medea, is the only good bit of the whole ablum which is IMO just... well boring

What contraversey!-? The hot's all gone out of the Peppers. The current Peppers don't crank my tractor like the originals did. I saw 'em live in '83, hit me (!), they yertled my turtle. When the guitarist croaked and drummer quit, they lost that funky feelin'. I bought one of their albums since A.D. and it was so bland...All I need are the original 3 Chili Peppers albums, my themos, and that chair. That's all I need!

The worst album I've bought lately is Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoff's Under The Covers Vol. 1. It could be a fun album of covers. They sounded great on TV doing Cinnamon Girl live. However, the SQ of the CD is so poor. It's hard to tolerate. The levels are way over the top and very audibly distorted. I could enjoy a REAL copy of this album on a competent format or even competently mastered to CD.

The best album I've bought lately is Drywall with Stan (Wall Of Voodoo) Ridgeway's latest, Babylon Barbeque. If you miss Wall Of Voodoo, this is another good thing. Stan's trademark sound is ever, ever, present.

Best- Hot Chip The Warning Nice and bonkers.
I haven't bought any stinkers of late but St Elsewhere by Gnarls Barkley is too short and lacks direction.

You might as well go out and buy the whole Rush back catelogue and while your at it pick up most of the Yes albums................but..............and I say this in total embarassment.......I had a couple or three glasses of vino the other night and as 'er indoors' was getting a bit fed up of ATDI and Rival Schools, this was the nearest Karming cd to hand........and I swear that I actually enjoyed it . Now I refuse to repeat the process incase someone is looking but maybe when there is no one home and the lights are out Next it will be Barry Manilow.........oh the shame !!!!.

Im off to join PA (prog anonymous), before I loose my ability to handle it.

Best:

Chicago - XXX - I'm a huge fan of their music and have been looking forward to a new (non Greatest Hits-type) album froim them for years! A vinyl pressing of this album is seriously needed!

Worst:

James Blunt - Back to Bedlam - recommended by an ex last year. The less said about the album (and the ex) the better.
