Thanks: Gave 2, Got 0 | Nelly Furtado
Anyone thinking about picking up her new album? I hardly consider myself a fan of the pop genre but I heard 'Say It Again' on the radio and I was pleasantly surprised. Also just read this review from Mansized (a well-respected UK website) and I'm thinking I might actually go for it. http://www.mansized.co.uk/reviews/review.phtml/111/238/ |

Heard it was more like "Whoa, Nelly" than "Folklore", so worth a punt methinks.

timbaland produced at least some of this cd, which varies between the type of stuff on maneater and promiscous (ie. very cool rnb tracks) and mellower stuff a bit more like her first album. thus rnb fans dissapointed that its not the stomping timbaland production like the singles, and maybe her fans a little upset at her poppier tracks
when i heard maneater and promiscous i couldn't believe it was the same nelly

I've been listening to Nelly's new album for a few days and it's clear she's mostly decided to pander to the commercial crowd. I guess because Folklore didn't sell that many numbers.
I don't know why the record studio didn't think Folklore had to many single tracks. I disagree many would've worked great as singles.
Loose a mixture between both her to previous albums with some edgier indie stuff like Folklore but more Pop numbers like Whoa, Nelly! than Folklore had (which didn't really have any). * "Promiscuous" sticks like a sore thumb and is mostly awful. I'm considering it removing it from my MP3 version. What was she thinking? Gwen Steffani she is not. * "Maneater" still great and very catchy * "Showtime" this is probably the weakest track on the album * "No Hay Igual" and "Te Busque" Both fantastic. How Nelly should really sound and much closer to Folklore.
* Most of the later tracks are really fillers which are blending into each other (at the moment anyway).
It's a pity she's sold out a little. The more mature edgier sound of Folklore was what got me really hooked. I listened it and thought my god it's a big improvement over Whoa, Nelly!
That said it's still mostly a success (Why include the sooo out of place "Promiscuous" though?)

she's been pimping all the tv shows and looks a sexy lil minx, so with the sexy videos and mtv friendly tunes she should do well
