Has anyone taken over from John Peel ?

I've been converting my old cassette tapes and minidiscs on which I have lots of old John Peel radio shows and must admit it brought a bit of a tear to my eye to listen to him again.
I have Mr Peel to thank for me liking a broad range of music, half of the stuff I listen to just would have remained unknown to me without listening to his show. Has anyone taken over this role on the radio ? I remember someone called Steve Lamacq (or something like that) tried to play different stuff but can't bring myself to listen to radio 1 these days to find out who's playing what

sadly not - but then that was a big space to fill. Radio1 is all about speciality shows now after 21.00. No one DJ plays the range of stuff Peel used to cover.
I've just read the autobiography he started and finished by his wife Sheila. Very interesting and brought a lump to my throat. Sorely missed.
