Thumbs up Your 2006 Gigs/Concerts?

Anyone got tickets for anything exciting this year?

Where are you going, when - and importantly, who or what are you seeing?

I've got tickets for concerts at the Barbican (twice): April 29th - Beethoven's 1st and 9th Symphonies; July 29th - Mozart's Requiem/Hadyn's Symphony No. 44.

I'll update if I book anything else.

Over to you ...

Cheeky beggar!

I went to see Tori Amos last summer, so as far as I'm concerned, unless Kate Bush gets a tour together, I'm unlike to go to anything rock or pop for a while now.

I'm off to see some really old bands this year. Loudness and Helix are playing a local bar here in Toronto. Dream Theater also. Hopefully Rammstein will make their way across the Atlantic this year. Roll on the summer for some outdoor gigs

Anyone seeing Richard Ashcroft live? Just alerted my brother to the gig at Exeter Uni on May 16th - he's a massive Ashcroft fan!

(Tickets go on sale 9am tomorrow, if anyone's interested.)

i saw arcade fire support franz ferdinand in edinburgh, i think i enjoyed them more than franz ferdinand who got a bit boring with a full set as ever song sounded the same. when they did a short set at T in the park the previous year it was much better. they filmed the show i was at for a dvd, but it wasnt included on the dvd they released

So far nothing firmly booked.... but should funds allow and the moment arise (Hell just might freeze over) David Gilmour, Albert Hall (I have a little source for tickets to Albert Hall ) , War of the worlds at NEC, Eagles, Kate Bush should she tour, The Who, Goldfrapp if touring and V2006 Chelmsford.

Might go to see Deep Purple at the Milton Keynes Bowl (sat 3 June 2006). They are headlining the Monsters of Rock festival with Alice Cooper in support.

Deep Purple played at the London Astoria recently - apparently they rocked - they are playing a completely new set with a lot of stuff from the new album, plus stuff from Purpendicular and living wreck from In Rock (worth the admission price alone!) as well as most of the Machine Head album

More details can be found here:

Just booked tickets to go and see Soil , American Head Charge, Panic Cell + Special Guests at Nottingham's Rock City on the 4th of February.

Which means that one of two things is going to happen,
1) I'm going to have a stiff neck and be deaf for a week.

or

2)the gig will be cancelled like the last three I've had tickets for.

Also hoping to get tickets for Monster Magnet, at the Corporation in Sheffield.

tickets arrived today

Blimey Helix? I think I had an album, wild in the streets or summat, by them from way back. Are they still going, or is it a different band?

I've got tickets for Jack Johnson this March. First "Big" gig I'll have been to for years.

Cathedral in Brighton in February.
Trivium at Southampton Guildhall in March.
Possibly Jethro Tull - Same venue & month I think.
Bob Catley (Magnum) Southampton Joiners in April.

Already more than I went to in 2005; possibly my leanest gig year for over 20 years!

AFAIK, it's the original line up. I can't imagine how they will look and whether they will wear the full 80's spandex gear; I hope not.

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I've just booked tickets to see Darren Hayes (he of Savage Garden fame) at the Hammersmith Apollo on April 26th ... three days before I then purify eyes and ears by hearing Beethoven's first and final symphonies performed at the Barbican!

I did it for the wife. Honest.
