WOTW is a SACD and therefore the only way to get the full 5.1 mix is to play it in a SACD compatable player that is connected to your receiver via the 6 analogue audio leads. SACD can not be sent to a receiver via coax or optical connections. By the sound of it all you are getting when you play the disc is the CD layer, which is only stereo.

If you are looking to get a SACD player then IMO you shouldn't be waiting for a HD DVD player as they are likely to be very expensive when the eventually reach the UK, and there is a fair chance they wont be SACD/DVD-A compatable anyway. I doubt we will be seeing universal HD players for at least a year or two and as with all new technology I would expect the new players to cost a fortune.

Are you sure ? I'd agree DSD doesn't appear manadatory, but MLP/DD+ (or whatever it is now rebadged as) is AFAIK. Therefore, DVD-A should be supported just the same as existing DVD and CD will be.

If not, then look on the bright-side....if you have a unit that plays either SACD or DVD-A now, then you won't be concerned about re-sale value of your old player...you'll have to keep it
