Albums of the year 2005

I think 2005 has been a crackin' year for music.

My favourite albums are:

Magic Numbers - Magic Numbers
Joe Chester - Murder of Crows
Franz Ferdinand - You could have it so much better
Athlete - Tourist
Kaiser Chiefs - Employment

What's yours?

i think stars of CCTV by hard fi is THE defining album of 2005, and they will be ending the year by playing up to the bells at edinburghs hogmanay party

sounding like an up to date version of the clash, the tunes from this album have featured on many a trailer for tv shows on all channels. they were robbed of the mercury music prize award this year

a band to look out for, they have a lot of new songs already in the can, i think 2006 will be a great year for them when the 2nd album is released

thought it wasnt a great year for music neither, after all it was the year that brought us the crazy frog.

only other album of note i bought this year was arcade fire- funeral, but thats a 2004 album by a band that made it big in 2005, cracking album as well. bloc partys album is good as well though.

Maybe I should've said something like: "I think it's been a great year for music (away from the mainstream)"

Alot of excellent albums released in the more obscure, 'underground' rock/prog/metal scene!

Agree with the comments about Hard-Fi, by no means my favorite band at the moment but I think probably the stand out album of 2005.

It's a greatest hits album and spells the demise of one of my favorite bands of all time but Blink 182's greatest hits deserves a mention.

Also liked the recent Rammstein Album "RosenRot" another cracking Rammstein album, they seem to get better and better unlike most artists.

my own Worst has to be Coldplay X&Y...Yawn Yawn Yawn

Really in no particular order:
Audioslave - Out Of Exile (Probably played in the car more than anything else this year)
Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny Of Souls (Not his best, but I still prefer Bruce solo than anything IM have released of late)
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing (I'll thank this forum for that one!)
Kate Bush - Aerial
Cathedral - The Garden Of Unearthly Delights
Trivium - Ascendancy
Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison
Still Remains - Of Love And Lunacy
Neil Young - Prairie Wind
Rush R30 (Currently my favourite live recording of them)

I also think it's been quite a good year...

1. Arcade Fire - Funeral (we can include this as it wasn't released in the UK until February. Uncut's album of the year anyway...)
2. Mercury Rev - Secret Migration
3. Ryan Adams - Cold Roses (one of 3 great albums this year alone)
4. Sigur Ros - Takk
5. Raveonettes - Pretty In Black
6. White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
7. Antony & The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now
8. Go Betweens - Oceans Apart
9. Brian Eno - Another Day On Earth
10. Neil Young - Prairie Wind
11. Magic Numbers - Magic Numbers
12. The Tears - Here Come The Tears
