Anyone like World music? Chango Spasiuk

First of all about the venue. Never been there before but have to say I was most impressed. Small intimate but with a great atmosphere and the food is good too.Its situated in the North lanes, Brighton. Now the band or rather Chango and his acoustic band - accordion, violin, percussion, two acoustic guitars and tenor vocals. The music style is called Chamame and originates from the NE of Argentina. Very very different to tango, it has to be said, much more melifluous and with definite Eastern European as well as Spanish Brazilian and Indian( Guarani) influences. In fact Chango's family originates from the Ukraine.. The musicians themselves were very technically proficient having obviously had a classical background but they played with great heart as well and had the audience in raptures. Brightonians are not known for being overly expressive but the lot last night certainly let their feelings show .It was great experience
Last year Chango won the awdrd for best newcomer at the World Music awards
