CD & DVD Reviewers Wanted (Posted 6th July)

As the forums grow faster than ever and our review discs pile up higher and higher each month, we urgently need new Reviewers!

We will have positions for the following review genres,
Mainstream movie reviews
Adult movie reviews
CD Reviews
or all off the above.

What we are looking for?

1. The most important thing is being able to write a comprehensive review which includes accurate technical details on the DVD being reviewed (sound, picture etc).
2. Someone who is trustworthy, reliable and can complete tasks quickly and on time. That person must have the ability to review at least two discs a month.
3. A reviewer’s home cinema equipment is important and must be correctly set up and calibrated, however it doesn't need to be thousands of pounds worth of the best names. We all know a well put together and calibrated system is what is important.
4. A Knowledge of film history.
5. A Knowledge of technical issues surrounding the mastering and production of a DVD.

What we offer you

1. In exchange for your time and effort, you will get to keep the review discs on most occasions unless otherwise stated. This is unpaid work
2. The chance to review DVD's in advance of release dates and the opportunity to see films and DVD's you might not otherwise buy or see.
3. The opportunity to write for one of the biggest AV/DVD websites in Europe which can present new opportunities within the AV business.

The Role

1. You will review Exclusively for Total DVD and AV Forums, however we do accept freelance writers.
2. You will be required to write reviews to a deadline and sign a contract of service.
3. You will be expected to write to a high standard with proven skills.
4. You have the opportunity to review a wide range of genres
5. You should receive (apart from the odd exception) 100% keepers a month.
6. You will be encouraged to review at least two discs a month.
7. You will have the equipment to allow reviews of multi-region Discs.
8. You will have a good knowledge of word
9. You will have a multi region DVD Rom device for screen shots.
10. You will have a surround set up with Dolby and DTS. (Not required for adult or CD reviews)

Applying

To apply please write two reviews on DVD's you already own and base them on the format we use in the review forum (Screen shots are not required, just your text).
Once you have written your reviews then please send them (in word format) to avforums@btinternet.com along with a quick bio on you and your system. Please include a phone number in your email.

Please DO NOT send me any PM's, all correspondence will be via email and telephone.

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.

What sort of background, knowledge and equipment are you after for CD reviews? As that's a whole different ballgame to DVD reviews and is very much a matter of personal taste.

Yes it is a different ball game, if you are interested in finding out how we plan to implement the reviews and you are interested in applying, please drop me an email to the address above.

DVD-A/SACD reviews

Hi Phil.

I recently compared DVD-A to SACD {Sorry, on another review site! ;-) } and wondered if maybe you were interested in music reviews too? After all, AVForums is about AUDIO visual, yes?
Since my particular area of interest is high-fidelity and particularly surround-sound audio, this may be considered of relevence since no-one seems to be giving these up-coming formats much "air-time" yet BUT in many music-lovers' opinions this is the forthcoming "Holy Grail" of music and is soon to be "pushed" by manufacturers/artists due to the "rise" of 5.1 surround-sound HCP's. Hence the recent insurgence of DualDiscs as well as DVD-A's and SACD's.
That being the case, I'd love to be considered as a reviewer and eagerly anticipate your reply.

Bob
