Improving quality of sound files

Hi all

I do a lot of audio typing in my business which means I get a lot of sound files or "voice recorded" cassettes. Of course many of these are quite poor - hissy, muffled, background noise, quiet etc. - and I was wondering if there is any software that is available that would help to improve the quality.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

there's a sound editor called goldwave that will help you out with that - it's got various filters and noise reduction settings included. I know you can get a free trial download off their site if you want to see if it works ok.

don't know the address off the top of my head

Thanks for the information. I'll Google the name and see what comes up.
